Eat The Local Food
– The Bahamians are known for their locally raised, caught, and grown food that is unmatched in most parts of the world. With the abundance of conch in Nassau you can expect most of the traditional Bahamian meals to be made from it.
Nassau is well known for the amazing conch salad and conch fritters. They can be spicy or mild depending on where you go. Bahamians also cook up the local spiny lobster which is generally not as tasteful as the Maine lobster but is still prepared better than anywhere else in the Caribbean.

Nassau is known for its incredible festivals. The festivals in Nassau are so frequent that one would almost think that the entire Bahamians do is throw festivals. Bahamian festivals are colorful, loud, and a site to behold.
One of the most well known of these festivals is the Junkanoo. This festival occurs in December and is a daylong party with colorful outfits, great food and drinks, and the Junkanoo parade which is one of the most well known parades in the world.
Shop Downtown –
Nassau has everything from high to low end shopping. If you are a big spender there are top jewelry stores and clothing stores that are unmatched in most of the world.
If you don’t have that much money to spend, the straw market is for you. The straw market is a sight which holds local Bahamians attempt to sell you everything from locally made trinkets and carvings to fake top of the line glasses and purses.
